Diary of Strumble Head DX & Contest Group

RSGB 80M Club Championships 4th January to 22 July 2010:

The team members will be active in this team event on all modes using their own calls from home. This is a series of 90 minute long contests organised by the RSGB Contest Committee and held on the first Monday, the second Wednesday and third Thursday of the month through to July. They alternate CW, SSB and RTTY/PSK31. For full Rules and dates see the RSGB Contest Committee website in the Links pages.

CQ WPX RTTY Contest 13th and 14th February 2010:

Chris G1VDP will be activating the club call M9W as a single op single band entry from his home station. Band has yet to be decided.

24th to 30th March 2010:

It is hoped that some of the team members will be able to visit Rob and Jane at the farm for a few days during this period. This will also take in the CQ WPX Phone Contest 27th and 28th March 2010 where the calls MC0SHL and MW9W will be on air.

19th to 30th July 2010:

This is the big one. Once again the team will be at the farm during this period, hopefully on air for a few days both sides of the RSGB IOTA Contest. We will be preparing the equipment and making sure we have all the supplies needed.

22nd to 27th July 2010 Ramsey Island EU-124 and RSGB IOTA Contest:

The team will be embarking on this expedition once more. Again hopefully using 2 hexbeams and wires from Ramsey Island EU-124. This will include a entry in the RSGB IOTA Contest using MW9W. This again will count for WFF, WAB and the IOTA award schemes. Chris G1VDP and Charles M0OXO are hoping the boys will allow them to try some digital mode operation also.

25th to 26th September 2010 CQ WPX RTTY Contest:

The club contest call will once again be on the air for this contest. M9W will again be a single band entry from the QTH of Chris G1VDP.

15th to 17th October 2010 RSGB Convention:

This again will be attended by members of the SHDXCG. Venue has yet to be confirmed.

27th October to 2nd November 2010 3rd Anniversary celebrations:

Hopefully the team will all be down on the farm for the celebrations of the 3rd anniversary of the group. We will be on the air using the club calls and taking part in the CQWW Phone Contest over the weekend of 30th and 31st October 2010.

31st December 2010 to 2nd January 2011

As the New Year celebrations were such a success in 2010 the team have once again asked Rob and Jane if it will be OK to go and visit. So once more MC0SHL may be on the air, especially as this year we are hoping to get Rob's antennas up and running.
