Hi I am Viliam Petrik OM0AAO,

the youngest team member was born on 29 Dec 1980. Living in small village in mountains. My interest in amateur radio started very early because my father was doing this hobby. Other kids plays computer games, I have played with oscilloscope, multimeter, soldering iron :-)

I have always love building. In 1997 I have achieved 4th place in the Slovak school constructors competition for a direct conversion receiver. Then followed power supplies for CB radio, ATUs, speech processors, power amplifiers and later antennas. It was years on 11m DX band. I have joined few contests on this bands and in 2003 I have obtain my first licence which allows me entry in the HAM World on VHF.

VHF contesting is realy hard job in the country as Slovakia is. I spent a lot days on hills (6000 feets and more). The best result: overall winner of the 1st IARU Subregional contest 2005 in OM and winner of the OM VHF Low Power Contest in 2005 and 2006. In this years I have led ARS OM3RKP which was regulary entrant of VHF, UHF and SHF contests.

Later I have discovered a new world on VHF – meteor scatter and satellites. For a hunt for new grids I have improved and improved my setup including tube amplifier for 2m band, preamplifiers etc.

Finally in 2007 changes national authority the law. I got an acces on some HF bands without Morse requirement. I have sold my VHF equipment and bought Yaesu FT-1000MP and 5-band wire antenna. It was a step to the HF contesting.

For CQWW I got an invitation from MW5W contest crew (TNX!). It was my first entry in the big HF contest.

In February 2008 I have passed exams for Extra class. Me and Steve OM7KW (ex OM7AAS) were the first HAMs which passed new exams in Slovakia.

I am regular entrant in many contest – currently 4th in SSB Liga, 2nd in OM Activity Contest. I got also the OM0A contest callsign which you have heard in the IARU HF Contest or WAEDC 2008.

I am doing own bussines in the travel movement and computers and in the summer and winter also you can find me in Exchange office. It costs me a lot of time.

There are over 2,000 articles that I have published in last years on the websites and magazines. The www.cq.sk site is the most visited HAM site in Slovak and Czech republic.
